2011 Napa to Sonoma - Tesfaye Alemayahu defends title; Caroline Kirui shatters women's record.
Caroline Kirui, a twenty year old runner from Kenya, currently residing in Auburn, CA shattered the women's course record by over 2 minutes at the 8th running of the Napa-to-Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon. Caroline ran a blazing 1:15:45, defeating second place finisher Julia Mallon, of Santa Rosa, who ran a 1:18:27.
Tesfaye Senduke Alemayahu (Ethiopia) defended his title in a hard-fought race by defeating Christian Hesch of Hollywood, CA and Sergio Reyes of Palmdale, CA. Tesfaye ran a 4:56 mile pace and finished in 1:04:37. Hesch finished in 1:04:52:3, beating Reyes by a mere second.
